We hope you're well. Whilst Valentine's Day took place last weekend, we have to admit - we've fallen for a lot of the new product that's awaiting you in the pro shop! Until the time comes when you can take a closer look, we are still here to help in any way we can so please don't hesitate to get in touch. Enjoy the read. |
A Busy Week It has been a busy start to the week for me with a first aid training course on Monday and a fire safety training course yesterday morning. I also attended a zoom workshop in the afternoon yesterday organised by Foremost Golf with Will Harvey, Chris Beaumont and Jack Yetton, all pictured below from Titleist. The information about the Titleist SM8 wedges along with how Will custom fits European Tour players was brilliant. You may think the players on tour have different wedges to the ones we sell in the shop but this is not the case. The wedges are created for all players in mind and there is far more to a wedge than the length and loft. |

A golf ball will spin more if it is hit lower in the face which is ideal for your wedges and the loft and bounce you use will make a difference to where you hit the golf ball on the face, do you know which combination is correct for your game? Titleist have also placed weight into the hosel and toe of the club to produce a wedge that will help you hit your target more often with more spin. The weights are keeping the face stable through impact which means it will point towards your target more often providing huge consistency. |

The grooves on an iron are pressed into the face, whereas the Titleist Vokey wedges have grooves cut into the face which creates more spin. The face is also heat treated to give the grooves a much longer lifespan. Believe it or not the shape of the grooves is different on the lower lofts (46 to 54) than the higher lofts (56 to 62) with narrower deeper grooves for the lower lofts and wider shallower grooves for the higher lofts. This is based on how most players use the lower lofts for full shots and the higher lofts for knock down shots and feel shots around the green. This is incredible detail to use to make sure the wedges are the best they can be for all players. |
|
| I will be offering a Titleist Vokey fitting day soon after we are able to open and I would encourage as many of you as possible to come and have a no-obligation session to see if your wedge set up is helping your game. More details will be sent soon!

Berger's victorious eagle | Spieth's comeback continues Daniel Berger emerged victorious on Valentine's Day after a grandstand finish worthy of a champion. Having double-bogeyed the 18th hole to complete his third round, the young American had a change of fortunes come Sunday as his stunning eagle left him two shots clear of the rest of the field at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. However, the story of the week arguably came a few spots further down the leaderboard as Jordan Spieth competed down the stretch for the second consecutive week. It might not sound like a big story given the phenomenal start to Spieth's career, but the American has been battling with his game for a few years now in a stretch that saw him fall to 92nd in the World Rankings. Could this be the start of a resurgence for Spieth? The signs are certainly there! |
Distance Measuring Devices allowed on Tour In other news, distance-measuring devices (laser rangefinders) will be permitted at the men’s, women’s & seniors’ PGA Championships this year. Whilst this has caused some debate amongst golfers and experts alike, it’s a reminder of just how incredibly useful they can be out on the course, saving time and shots. If you're still pacing out your yardages from the 150-yard marker, maybe it's time to look at how these fantastic bits of technology could help your game? Send us a message below if you'd like to explore this further. |
